What are the best ways to begin increasing power on an auto 2004 4.8L Silverado Stepside LS Single Cab 1500?What are the best ways to begin increasing power on an auto 2004 4.8L Silverado Stepside LS Single Cab 1500? I would like to explore some options to begin finding more power from my truck. I am open to any advice other than a swap to a new engine and tranny because mine is only at 80,000 miles. When I feel like my engine has enough miles I will make the swap. If all is stock you could start with a cold air intake, the factory units are very restrictive. next I would do the exhaust they are restrictive as well. You can go a new performance chip they will modify air/fuel ratio, ignition etc. It all depends on what your budget is good luck with your project. Auto parts : Distributor Rotor Spring Acura 1995 . Peugeot . Ignition Lock Cylinder Instructions for a 1990 CRXThe ignition lock in your 1990 Honda CRX is mounted on the top, right-hand side of the steering column. For security reasons, the cylinder uses two mounting bolts with sheared-off heads. When installing the new unit, make sure you have positioned the cylinder correctly and it operates properly, since you will need to twist off the heads of the new mounting bolts. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Wrench Small, flat-head screwdriver Ratchet Ratchet extension Socket Phillips screwdriver Center punch Hammer Electric drill Drill bit Screw extractor Torque wrenchRemoving the Ignition Lock Cylinder Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the ground battery cable (black) using a wrench. 2 Detach the center pad from the steering wheel. Use a small, flat-head screwdriver as a small pry bar to lift and remove the pad. 3 Unscrew the steering wheel retaining nut using a ratchet, ratchet extension and socket. 4 Strike the backside of the steering wheel spokes carefully with the palm of your hands to dislodge the wheel from the steering column shaft, and put the steering wheel aside. 5 Remove the steering column covers using a Phillips screwdriver. 6 Mark the center of the lock cylinder mounting bolts with a center punch and a hammer. 7 Drill a small hole in the two lock cylinder mounting bolts using the center punch marks as a guide. Use an electric drill and a small bit. 8 Unscrew the two lock cylinder bolts using a screw extractor. 9 Remove the lock cylinder from the steering column. Installing the Ignition Lock Cylinder Step by Step : 1 Insert the new ignition lock cylinder without the key in the steering column housing, but do not tighten the mounting bolts yet. Make sure the cylinder is properly seated. 2 Insert the ignition key, momentarily position the steering wheel on the steering shaft. Make sure the steering lock works by rotating the steering wheel and turning the key. Also, make sure the key properly rotates all the way to the Start position. Remove the steering wheel. 3 Tighten the lock cylinder mounting bolts using a standard screwdriver. After tightening the bolts, keep the screwdriver turning until the bolts' heads twist off. 4 Install the steering column covers using the Phillips screwdriver. 5 Set the steering wheel in position over the steering shaft and tighten the wheel retaining nut using the ratchet, ratchet extension and socket. Torque the steering nut to 36 foot-pounds (50 Nm) using a torque wrench. 6 Snap the center pad in place on the steering wheel. 7 Connect the ground battery cable (black) using the wrench.
Peugeot . How to Fix a Small Ding on a CarIt's fairly easy to get small dents in your car during everyday use. The thin sheet metal used for auto bodies these days isn't very resistant to denting, and even small debris flying up from the road is enough to cause little imperfections. Body shops can charge you hundreds of dollars to fix these kinds of problems, but in many cases it's very easy to deal with them yourself and save some money. For larger dents, you can often remove them with a household plunger, and smaller dents can be removed with a simple mallet. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Plunger Mallet Screwdriver HammerRemoving Dents With A Plunger Step by Step : 1 Apply the plunger to the dented area. 2 Pump the plunger repeatedly until you generate significant suction. 3 Give the plunger a strong tug. You may have to use a large amount of force, and it may take more than one attempt. If everything works, you should be able to pop the dent out after a few tries. 4 If this is a large dent, and this method doesn't work, you may have to rely on a professional. Removing Dents With A Mallet Or Screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Determine if the dented area is easily accessible from the rear. If it is, continue on. 2 Match the size of your mallet or hammer to the size of the dent. If you use a small mallet on a larger dent or vice-versa, you run the risk of leaving obvious hammer marks. 3 Make sure to use a mallet with a rubber head, or if you don't have one small enough, use the handle end of a screwdriver, and hammer the other end to create force. 4 Position yourself so that you can access the back side of the dent. 5 Tap lightly as close to the center of the dent as possible. Don't tap too forcefully, or you run the risk of creating a more severe dent in the opposite direction. 6 If this method doesn't repair your dent, and the area is too small for the plunger method, it's probably time to contact a professional body shop. Not all dents can be handled at home without professional experience, and you wouldn't want to damage your car further attempting to fix a problem that you're not equipped to deal with. *Remoitinq a hubcap If you have an older car that still has hubcaps (instead of the wheel covers on more recent models), the first task in changing a tire — after you pull to the side of the road and finish banging the heel of your hand against the steering wheel in frustration — is to remove the hubcap of the injured tire. The following steps tell you how: 1. Use a screwdriver or the flat end of a lug wrench (see Figure 2-20 in Chapter 2) to pry off the hubcap. Just insert the point of the tool where the edge of the cap meets the wheel, and apply a little leverage (see Figure 1-3). The cap should pop off. You may have to do this in a couple of places; it's like prying the lid off a can of paint. . Chapter 1: Things Every Driver Should Know O 1 Figure 1-3: You can use a screwdriver to pry a hubcap loose. 2. Lay the cap on its back so that you can put the lug nuts into it to keep them from rolling away and heading for the nearest sewer. After you remove the hubcap, the next task is to loosen the lug nuts. Loosening the tug nuts 127

Most garages retighten them with a power tool, and unless you've done the job yourself by hand, they're going to be pretty hard to loosen. (Take my advice in Chapter 2 and buy a cross-shaft lug wrench. Figure 2-20 shows what one looks like.) Before you begin, you have to ascertain whether the lug nuts on the wheel you're working on are right-hand threaded or left-hand threaded. This isn't a "left-handed hammer" joke; the threads determine which way you turn the wrench. The lug nuts on the right side of a vehicle are always right-hand threaded, but the nuts on the left side may be left-hand threaded. Look at the lug nuts on your car; in the center of the lugs you should see an R, an L, or no letter at all: I V A lug with an R or with no letter is right-threaded. Turn it counterclockwise to loosen it. Peugeot . Can snow harm chrome rims?
No but the salt and sand they use on the roads can. moisture left on the wheel can make it pit over time. Chevrolet S10 Extended Cab. * V A lugs with an L is left-threaded. Turn it clockwise to loosen it. For the purposes of sanity, I'll assume that your car has right-threaded nuts. If you have a couple of lefties, just turn the wrench in the opposite direction as you follow these steps to loosen the lug nuts: 1. Find the end of the wrench that fits the lug nuts on your car, and fit it onto the first nut. Part I: Getting Started. Always work on lug nuts in rotation. That way, you won't forget to tighten any later. 2. Apply all your weight to the bar on the left. This starts turning the nut counterclockwise, which loosens it. If the nut has been put on with a power tool and you can't get it started, a piece of hollow pipe, fitted over that left-hand arm of the cross-shaft wrench, magically adds enough leverage to start the nut easily (see Figure 1-4). After you replace the nut yourself, this aid is no longer necessary. But remember, the longer the arms on your lug wrench, the more leverage you have. Figure 1-4: Peugeot . Don't remove the lug nuts completely; just get them loose enough so that you can remove them by hand after raising the car (a feat explained in an earlier section of this chapter, "The Safe Way to Use a Jack"). Changing the tire Once the vehicle is safely jacked up and the lug nuts are off, follow these instructions to change the tire: 1. Remove the spare from the trunk if you haven't already done so. Actually, it's easier to do this before jacking up the car. If you haven't checked your spare recently, keep your fingers crossed that it has enough air in it! Roll the spare to the scene of the action. 2. Grasp the flat tire with both hands and pull it toward you. The flat tire sits on the exposed bolts that the lug nuts screwed onto. As you pull the flat off, it should slide along the bolts until, suddenly, it . Chapter 1: Things Every Driver Should Know O 2 Peugeot .
